We talk more about the swear jar and the history and uses of the no no words.
Note from Darryl: Garon emailed me during the show asking for info about the swear jar. Here’s my reply, which he referenced:
I did some NNNotes searches, and came up with this:
Ep 711 with Jimmy Dore (!!!) is where it first came up. Found, unfortunately, by searching for the offending word.
1:27:20 Jimmy puts the kibosh on saying “faggot”
1:27:57 $10 fine that goes to Smile Train
1:28:30 Ten bucks in the homo jar!
1:30:00 Dore thinks we are giving words too much power
In Season 9, there are two results that come up with a search for “homo jar”: 906 with Pat Francis and 908 with Todd Glass.
Then in 1003, again with Dore, there is this:
1:30:00
Dore argues with a 16 year old
We gotta get Dore out and exercising
Matt on swimming: “I don’t want to be tired and almost drowning”
Dore wants to know what happened to the swear jar
Jimmy’s new word: moron
In 1319, it’s Dore again asking about the swear jar. These are your [Garon’s] notes:
110 – Jimmy d wants to play a game where we use different words for swear words.
Jimmy d asks where the swear jar is.
Jimmy describes it was a jar specifically for the F word.
I do not think Alec Baldwin is a homophobe just a rage monster.
Jimmy agrees.
So it looks like by Season 10, it wasn’t around. I can’t remember which season the studio moved, but if it was around then, maybe that’s why.
