Who came first? Judge Jimmy or Judge Hodgman?
The first instance of Judge Jimmy on Never Not Notes is episode #601 with Bil Dwyer in February 2010. But I suspect it started in Season 5, although Season 5 notes are incomplete because I only started doing the notes in Season 6, then went back and did others. Although the JJHo podcast didn’t start until November of 2010, the premise was a segment on Jordan, Jesse Go! prior to that. It was a live segment at MaxFunCon #1 in June, 2009, so that places the JJGo segments before that. I also remember that when the Judge Jimmy segments started, several fans (probably including me) pointed out the similarities to Jimmy. Even though the ideas were independently arrived at, Jimmy didn’t want the appearance of copying. All-about-me side note: My daughter Crystalinne and I were the litigants in the MaxFunCon #2 Judge John Hodgman segment which can be heard here. -Darryl
