35 – R.E.M. disbanded in September 2011 after a 30-year career because the members felt it was the right time to stop, wanting to end on their own terms as friends rather than continuing indefinitely. The decision was driven by a desire to avoid becoming a “nostalgia” act, a shared exhaustion with the music industry, and creative differences following drummer Bill Berry’s departure in 1997.
Jimmy talks about doing a show with Seinfeld’s best friend Barry Marder who was writing Letters From A Nut. Jimmy heard the letters before they ever got published.
